moved to heal podcast

a trauma-sensitive movement practice podcast

about the podcast

The Moved to Heal podcast offers trauma-sensitive movement practices as a resource for healing and recovery. The movement practices follow the foundational principles of Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) or are and as such may be useful for folks living with complex trauma and treatment-resistant PTSD.

how is MTH different from "regular" yoga?

Moved to Heal trauma-sensitive offerings remove any emphasis on doing postures in a certain or "correct" way. There are no goals or objectives for a given practice. Participants can participate in whatever way they choose.

As a TCTSY facilitator, I offer forms and movement using invitational language, and welcome participants to make choices about whether or how to do any form or movement. I choose shapes and movements to offer that I can describe via audio only.

who is the podcast for?

The Moved to Heal podcast is for anyone who wants to build awareness of their own physical and internal experiences through movement. The practices are designed with survivors of complex trauma in mind, using foundational principles of trauma-sensitive yoga. Depending on where someone is in their recovery, the podcast could be a resource they use independently or in conjunction with other therapeutic tools, including talk therapy.

why a podcast?

The primary reason is that I love podcasts, so that was my vehicle of choice for sharing trauma-sensitive movement! There are a few other reasons I think a podcast is a handy way to access MTH classes:
  • one can listen to the practices in a casual way, which might be an easier entry point than an in-person class
  • can listen discretely with headphones
  • no visuals (which can be distracting or prescriptive even)
  • connection through voice
  • free resource anyone can access
  • episodes can be downloaded for later use without internet connection

do you offer in-person classes?

Yes! I'm available to teach TCTSY and trauma-sensitive movement via zoom and in-person (space and safety measures permitting). Please email me for more information.
